Robina to Varsity Lakes Rail Extension

Project overview

The $324 million Robina to Varsity Lakes Rail Extension Project extended the reach of public transport into the Gold Coast, one of Queensland’s fastest growing regions. It included:

  • 4.1 km of dual electrified track
  • new train station at Varsity Lakes
  • 300 commuter car parks
  • 300 m cut-and-cover tunnel
  • 3.2 km of new roads.

2007-2009
Caboolture to Beerburrum Track Duplication

Project overview

The $298 million Caboolture to Beerburrum Track Duplication Project increased capacity on the busy North Coast rail line. It Included:

  • 13.7 km of dual electrified track
  • two new rail stations (Elimbah and Beerburrum)
  • 40 commuter car parks
  • four rail bridges
  • 5.5 km of road realignments.

2008 - 2009
Beerwah Rail Crossing

Project overview

The $67.6 million Beerwah Rail Crossing Project was part of Queensland Rail’s Rail Smart initiative to eliminate level crossings from the rail network. It included:

  • 1.2 km road bridge over the rail line in Beerwah
  • two new roundabouts
  • two new signalised intersections
  • new pedestrian underpass
  • new pedestrian and cycle paths.

2008 - 2011
Corinda to Darra Rail Upgrade

Project overview

The $218 million Corinda to Darra Rail Upgrade Project increased the capacity of the Ipswich rail line. It included:

  • two new tracks between Corinda and Darra
  • rail link to the new Springfield rail line
  • upgraded facilities at Darra and Oxley train stations
  • 70 additional commuter car parks at Oxley Station
  • 40 additional commuter car parks at Darra Station
  • rail bridge at Manburgh Terrace, Darra.
